Concrete paint is a surface film
Concrete paint is exactly what it sounds like — a thin layer of paint that sits on the surface of the concrete. It has no chemical bond to the slab and no real thickness, so it scratches, chips, and peels under normal garage abuse. It is cheap, goes on easy, and fails within months to a couple of years on any floor that gets real use.
Epoxy and polyaspartic bond to the concrete
A real epoxy or polyaspartic coating is a two-part system that chemically cures and mechanically bonds to a profiled concrete slab. Because we diamond-grind the concrete first, the coating sinks into the opened pores and locks in — it is not just sitting on top, it is part of the floor. That is why it resists hot tires, salt, and impact that would shred paint.
Thickness and wear resistance
A coating system is built up in layers — base coat, flake, and a clear top coat — giving you real measurable thickness and a wear surface. Paint is measured in a few dry mils and has no wear layer at all. Drop a tool on a painted floor and you chip it; drop one on a polyaspartic floor and it bounces.
Which one do you actually need?
For a closet or a low-traffic storage room you never enter, paint is fine. For a garage, basement, patio, or any floor you actually use and want to keep clean, a properly installed coating is the only option that will hold up. The price difference up front is paid back the first time a painted floor starts peeling and has to be stripped and redone.
