Glossy does not mean slippery
It is natural to assume a high-gloss floor is slick, but the finish and the slip resistance are separate things. A bare, glossy clear coat can be slippery when wet — which is exactly why we add anti-slip aggregate to the top coat.
Built-in anti-slip texture
Every polyaspartic top coat we install includes a micro-textured anti-slip aggregate. The texture is fine enough that the floor still looks smooth and is comfortable underfoot, but it provides real traction — especially important around pool decks, patios, and basements where wet, barefoot traffic is common.
For outdoor pool decks, we tune the texture to be safe for wet bare feet without being rough. For garages, the texture gives traction for tires and foot traffic even in slushy Michigan winters.
Where slip resistance matters most
Pool decks, patios, and any outdoor surface that gets wet are the highest priority for anti-slip texture. Basements used as home gyms or kids' play areas also benefit. We adjust the level of texture based on how the space is used.
The honest answer
A professionally installed polyaspartic floor is not a slipping hazard — it has traction built in. A thin, untextured DIY kit poured smooth is a different story. If slip safety is a priority for your floor, mention it on your free estimate and we will spec the right texture for the space.
